How can I support the LSA?

July 31, 2012

The Lea School Association (PTA) replies heavily on the support of our parents and carers.  By working together we are making this the great school that it is.  There are many ways you can help to make it even better:-

  1. Get involved and join the LSA – attend our next meeting.  (Dates are always published in the school newsletter.)
  2. Donate some of your time – to help run the events (or help look after someone else’s children so that they can help run the events).
  3. Attend our events – they are great fun and the kids love them!
  4. Provide for our events – depending on the event we’ll be asking for your kind donations of cakes, bottles, brik-a-brak, old toys and teddies, books, raffle prizes, etc.
  5. Monetary donations can be made via the school office – cheques should be made out to “The Lea School Association”.  (Note: we are a registered charity.)

Any donations and support will be gratefully received!  The purchases made by the LSA are at the request of the school and will benefit ALL the pupils.

Raise Money for FREE with Easy Search

July 31, 2012

Make http://theleapsa.easysearch.org.uk/ your home page and use it as your default search engine.

The EasySearch search engine works in exactly the same way as Yahoo or Google, but you’ll see a few more adverts.  Each time you make a search the school will be earning money – 0.5p for every search made.  (And who knows, some of those adverts might actually save you some money too!)

Just like EasyFundraising, it’s completely FREE to use and, if you make just 10 searches a day, you could raise £20 a year – or more – for the school, just by switching to EasySearch.

Simply make your home page http://theleapsa.easysearch.org.uk/ and use it every time you search the web.

Raise Money for FREE with Easy Fundraising

July 31, 2012

Do you ever shop online?  If the answer is yes you could be raising funds for The Lea totally for FREE.

Easy Fundraising is a shopping directory listing some of your favourite online stores.  Whenever you want to buy something online (e.g. Sainsburys, Tesco, ASDA, John Lewis, Currys, eBay, Amazon, B&Q, Clarks, Debenhams, Halfords, M&S, etc. – there are 1000s of retailers involved) simply go through Easy Fundraising  to get to your retailers website (www.easyfundraising.org.uk).

Once you’re through to the site you want (e.g. Amazon) you shop in exactly the same way as if you’d gone directly to Amazon first.  There are no extra charges, you won’t pay more for the goods, you may even benefit from special offers that aren’t available directly.  Every time you shop online the retailer makes a donation which goes straight to the LSA funds for the school (e.g. Amazon donates 2.5% of your purchase).  Last quarter we raised £83.80!  It’s truly win-win.

You’ll need to first register with EasyFundraising by selecting “The Lea Primary School Association” as your chosen cause, enter your contact details and choose a password.

Once you’re registered you can see exactly how much money is being raised for the school.  Regularly click on the Deals link to see if any are relevant to your needs.

A Working Party to be Proud of!

July 15, 2012

A massive thank you to all of you who braved the weather on Saturday, 14th July to come and help with some gardening at the school.  It was heaps of fun, the kids had a ball and it was great to get to know some other parents and staff.

We watched a frog eat a worm, unearthed long-lost toys in the undergrowth, cheered Miss Robinson on as she relocated a huge frog to the pond area, and discovered there is something hugely fulfilling about hacking away at overgrown bushes!

It was truly fantastic to see so many of you there – ‘many hands make light work’ as the saying goes…
