Ofsted Results – GOOD news!

December 21, 2012

Message from Mrs Swinson in this week’s school newsletter:

I do hope you have had a chance to read the Ofsted report which came home in your eldest child’s book bag yesterday.  We are absolutely delighted that the inspectors have judged The Lea to be a ‘Good’ school following the recent inspection.

I can’t thank you enough for the fantastic feedback that you put on Parent View – the lead inspector said it was quite exceptional.

The inspectors were very impressed with everything that the school has achieved since the last inspection and could see the impact of rising standards and progress across the school. Good and outstanding teaching were seen during the inspection and our topic based curriculum was described as ‘exciting’. The behaviour of the children was also judged to be good and the inspectors commented on how safe the children felt at school.

This is such a positive result for our school and something of which every member of the school community should be very proud. Thank you all for your support.

If for any reason you have not seen a copy, this is available on our school website or alternatively please contact the school office.

Year 3/4 Christmas Concert

December 20, 2012

Last night parents and carers came along to our Year 3/4 carol concert at school.  Despite a number of the performers being unable to attend due to illness, the rest of the pupils covered remarkably well and sang and read their lines beautifully.  Well done to everyone and thank you to all the members of staff involved in helping the pupils deliver a wonderful performance.

Year 6 Red Cross First Aid Awareness

December 17, 2012

The Red Cross came to school to give Year 6 First Aid training today.  The children learned a lot on how to resuscitate and to give first aid to others.  It was really useful and also a lot of fun!

Emerald Wins!

December 17, 2012

The team with the most house points this term were Emerald. As a reward for their hard work, the children were taken to Big Space in Harpenden for an hour today.  A good time was had by all. Well done to Emerald!

Hurricane Productions visited our school on Thursday and treated the children to the pantomime of ‘Puss in Boots’.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show!

Christmas Productions

December 14, 2012

Well done to Nursery and Reception for their wonderful performances of “It’s a Baby” this week and also well done to Year 1 and 2 for their further performances of “The Prickly Hay”.  I am sure those parents and carers who came along will agree that the children were all fantastic!  They have all worked really hard – we are so proud of them.

A big thank you goes to those members of staff who were involved in making the performances such a success!

A reminder that the Year 3 and 4 Christmas Carol Concert will be taking place next Wednesday 19th December at 7pm. Admission will be by ticket only.
