Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed the visit from some of our Harpenden Fire Crew and their fire engine today. This was part of the children’s transport project. They were all very excited about their special visitors and asked lots of questions!
The K’NEXpert Classroom Challenge is a STEM based challenges requiring students to apply Science, Technology, Engineering and Math knowledge and then design and build models for their grade level category.
Well done to our winners Owen Gooding and Jade Crossfield.
Our football team played an away match against St Dominic today. It was a very close, exciting game and our team played really well. The final result was 3-3. Well done – we are very proud of you!
We had joint winners for the team with the most house points this term. Well done to Topaz and Emerald!
Instead of the usual trip to Big Space as a reward for their hard work, we have decided to hire a bouncy castle to be set up in the school hall for the children (together with some delicious snacks!) As there will be no travelling involved, this will give them more time to play!
Trip to All Saints Church
On Monday afternoon Year 4 walked to All Saints Church in Harpenden and, as part of their RE topic, carried out a ‘baptism’. The children enjoyed their visit, asked great questions and were perfectly well behaved and very polite.
Year 4 Assembly
It’s been a busy week for Year 4 as they also gave a fabulous assembly on Wednesday to the school. The children talked about some of the varied and interesting topics they have been studying this term. This included earthquakes and volcanoes, stories from around the world, and they also showed some fantastic elephant masks they had made with acrostic poems written on them. They even gave a lovely rendition of ‘do re me’ as part of their music topic learning about pitches. It was lovely to see so many parents and carers come along to watch, a number of them commented to me afterwards how impressed they were with the children’s performance! Well done Year 4.
A big thank you to all parents and carers who sponsored their children in their art and maths challenges for the NSPCC. An amazing £1361.22 was raised for this very worthwhile cause. Sarah from the NSPCC came in for an assembly this morning to thank those pupils who raised this contribution towards their charity. Well done everyone.
