Year 2 Trip to Batford Springs

May 22, 2014

This morning Year 2 visited Batford Springs as part of their topic on habitats.  The children were enthralled with all that they found – both mini beasts and plants, and were extremely careful not to damage anything during their investigations.  Their behaviour was of course excellent.

Thank you to our parent helpers, Mrs Stevens and Mrs Lambert, and to Mrs Davis, Mrs Roper, Mrs Gibson and Mrs Collins for organising the trip and accompanying the children.

Harpenden Colts Winners!

May 21, 2014

Well done to Max Macdonald and Gabriel Tinnion in Year 5 who, along with their football team ‘Harpenden Colts (Panthers)’, were winners in the Mid Herts Rural Minors League Divisional Cup. Max was superb in defence and Gabriel scored 2 goals. The team won 3-2. They worked hard for their victory and it was a great way to finish the season.

Year 5 Class Assembly

May 21, 2014

Year 5 gave their class assembly to the school and to their parents and carers this morning.  They talked about the work they have been doing this term, including their poetry focused Literacy on the Titanic, their Anglo Saxon topic and also their impressive gym dance they have been working on in P.E. lessons.

Well done to Year 5 and thank you to Miss Lincoln and Mrs O’Donnell for helping them put together the assembly.

Year 5 Anglo Saxon Morning

May 16, 2014

As part of their topic on Anglo Saxons, Year 5 had a really enjoyable morning going back in time to the Saxon age when they were visited by Cas Saunders from the Letchworth and Hitchin Museum today. They looked at various crafts, armour and some of the children even got to dress up in Saxon costumes!

Year 3/4 Football Tournament

May 13, 2014

Well done to our Year 3/4 football team who took part in the local schools football tournament at Sauncey Wood today. Unfortunately the weather conditions were extremely wet and in fact so bad they were only able to play 3 out of their 4 matches (playing against St Nicholas, The Grove and St Dominic). Despite the results not going their way, our team played with great enthusiasm and their behaviour was excellent! Thanks to Miss Tyler, Mrs Giacobbi and Mr Harris for accompanying the team.

Wesleys Cafe

May 12, 2014

Thank you to Anna, Mariangela, Steve and Sulene for helping to run the cafe so expertly last Saturday.  A huge thank you too to all of you who kindly donated your baked treats.  The morning brought in a fantastic £230 which will go towards revamping the school’s library.  Thanks for your support.
