Year 2 Trip to the Museum of London

September 30, 2014

Year 2 visited the Museum of London today as part of their topic on the Great Fire of London.  They all completed worksheets as they looked round the gallery and took part in an interactive talk on the Great Fire of London.

The children’s behaviour was superb throughout the day, both at the Museum and while travelling on the train and the London Underground!

A big thank you to our parent helpers, Mrs Baker and Ms Bell; and to Mrs Davis, Mrs Roper, Mrs Giacobbi and Mrs Gibson.

Quiz Night – Friday, 17th October 2014

September 25, 2014

The PTA will be hosting a Quiz Night at the school on Friday, 17th October from 7.30-10pm (doors open at 7pm).

Tickets cost £5 per person.  You also have the option of including a fish ‘n chips dinner for an additional £5 per person.  Bring your own alcohol, soft drinks and nibbles.  All money raised will go towards buying equipment for the school.

There will be fun filled questions throughout the night on various subjects with a break halfway through for food, drinks and a natter.

It promises to be a really fun night out so line up your babysitters and come spend a highly entertaining evening at the school!  Family, friends and neighbours welcome – the more the merrier.

Teams of up to 6 people per table.  If you can’t get a team of 6 together on your own let us know and we’ll help put you into teams with others who are also short of numbers.  Likewise, if you can’t get babysitters why not have a mums/dads table while the other one babysits…

Prize for the winning team!    Raffle with great prizes!

Please return booking slips to the school office together with payment by Tuesday 14th October – tables book fast so the sooner the better! Payment should be in a sealed envelope marked for the attention of the PTA.  (Cheques should be made payable to “The Lea School Association”.)

For more information contact: leaschoolpta@hotmail.co.uk or 07900 988 753 or speak to Sue in the playground (Y3/Rec mum).

Christmas Cards

September 22, 2014

The PTA will be organising Christmas cards again this year as usual.  The children will soon have the opportunity to make their own designs in class and then a finished sample will be sent home in their book bags for you to place an order for cards, gift tags, mugs and tea towels should you wish.

So hold off buying other cards until you’ve seen your child’s masterpiece! The mugs and tea towels also make fantastic Christmas gifts.

Elections were held last week for the School Council Reps.  The aims of the School Council are:

  • to provide an opportunity for children to develop their social skills

The School Council meet regularly every month and it is made up of 2 representatives from each year group from Year 1 to Year 6.  Representatives are elected at the start of each academic year.

The results were as follows:

Year 6           Claudia Earl & Sam Vellacott
Year 5           Tyrese Crossfield & Folaranmi Faboye
Year 4           Zachary Vellacott & Syra Woolf
Year 3           Izzy Green & Noah Vellacott
Year 2           Alex Lovell & Zack Thomas
Year 1           Lia Mudd & Joshua Pepperrell

Well done to our newly elected School Council who I am sure will ably represent their class.
