Well done everyone on another fantastic Christmas Fair! It was a great way to spend a fun afternoon and we have raised a good amount for the school along the way. All money raised will go towards upgrading our courtyard.
Many thanks to everyone for their kind and extremely generous donations and thank you also to all the parents and staff who volunteered to help run the event and make it so special and such a success.
The DLC dancers did a great job of opening of the fair too!
Also, a special mention should go to those pupils who organised and ran the Year 6 stalls. Well done for all your hard work.
Thank you for your continued support.

A visitor from North Herts Museum Loan Company came into school this morning to give an assembly on World War I for pupils from Year 1 to Year 6. They were shown different types of helmets worn during the War and also listened to the story of Percy, a soldier from the Hertfordshire regiment.
After the assembly, she gave a follow up session to Year 5, who got to look at further artefacts.

18 children from Year 5 and 6 represented The Lea at the Harpenden Schools District Cross Country Championships at The Rovers Football Ground in Harpenden today. The course was 1.5km long and consisted of 4 races, with about 70 children taking part in each race.
All the Lea School competitors showed great determination and worked really well together as a team, giving each other lots of support and encouragement. Special mention to Tasmin in Year 5, who for a short while was leading the Year 5 girls race, and who eventually finished a fantastic 6th place. Thank you to Mrs Davenport and Mrs Roper for organising our school’s participation in the event and also thank you to Mrs Martin, Mrs Clarke, Mrs Earl and to Mrs Glover who helped with transport to and from the event.

The after school club at High Bat Tree have informed us that after Christmas they will run from 3.30 to 6.30pm from Monday to Friday.
Please remember to email/text the After School Team (in addition to letting the school know) when arrangements for pupils change. This helps to avoid any confusion at school for children and adults; parents can also avoid incurring club charges.

Our Reception class were treated to a mini tennis taster session with Dan Smith from Batchwood Tennis Club this morning. They worked on their ball and racket skills then moved on to hitting the ball over the net. They all did incredibly well and really enjoyed the session.

On Wednesday 26th November at 7pm, we will be holding an eSafety Workshop for parents and carers of pupils in Year 4 to Year 6.
There is increasing concern about the reported incidents of unacceptable use of mobile phones, tablets, games consoles and social networks. It is extremely important that children are able to use the internet safely. As many children are unaware of the risks of using the internet, it is essential that parents and carers know how to use the technology and have a background knowledge and understanding of eSafety.
