Award-winning children’s illustrator opens our new library

A new chapter has begun for The Lea with the opening of our new library!  Our fantastic new library was officially opened this morning by Nick Schon.

Nick Schon is the award-winning illustrator behind Biff, Chip and Kipper of the popular Magic Key series and has nearly 140 books to his name. These books are used in 80 per cent of the UK’s primary schools and are sold in 135 countries worldwide.

At the opening Nick said: “This is not just a library, it’s a gymnasium for the mind, it’s an adventure playground, it’s out-of-space… it’s a classroom, it’s pretty much whatever you want it to be because it’s all here – the entire world and everything you can possibly imagine is contained within these shelves…

A huge thank you to the PTA for raising the funds for the new library (and all the parents who supported those fund raising activities!), to Mrs Glover for arranging the installation, and to Mrs Cross and her team of helpers for sorting all the books back onto the shelves.

No doubt there are many enjoyable hours ahead for our pupils as they read the books on offer.
