Syrian Refugee Collection

October 22, 2015

We have been asked to pass on the following message from one of our Highfield Oval (YWAM) parents who travelled to Lesbos, Greece to help the refugees. You will recall that a collection was recently held at school for the Syrian Refugee Crisis:

“Thanks for donating money which enabled us to take two extra bags on our trip to Lesbos, Greece last week. We filled the bags mostly with medical supplies and children’s coats as well as other items of clothing and small toys. We gave the supplies to an UNHCR centre where the refugees arrive to once they get off the boats. They were grateful for more supplies”.

A huge thank you to all parents and carers who made a donation. A fantastic total of £166.95 was raised.

Girls Football Tournament

October 21, 2015

Yesterday afternoon, some our girls from Year 5 and 6 took part in the local schools Girls Football Tournament held at The Grove Junior School. They played really well with great enthusiasm and team spirit. All the games were closely played with a draw against St Helens and Roundwood, and losing out to Manland and Kings School by only one goal in both matches.

Well done to our team, we are very proud of you.

Year 5 Trip to Batford Springs

October 19, 2015

Year 5 visited Batford Springs this morning as part of their ‘Rivers’ topic. They took part in various activities, including measuring the depth, width and speed of the river. They were fortunate enough to observe a group of volunteers taking river samples as part of the group’s monthly tasks. The children were able to see just how many different inhabitants can be found living in a river.
