Rothampsted Research has asked us to let you know about a competition they are running for children and young adults as part of the Institute’s celebration of the International Year of Light and light-based Technologies, 2015.
Illuminating Life: Personal Encounters is free to enter and has three age categories: 7 to 10 years, 11 to 14 years and 15 to 18 years. Recognising a camera as a piece of light-based technology the entrant’s brief is to take an original image of life, in the form of plants, animals or landscapes. A brief description of the life encountered must accompany each photograph submitted.
Entrant’s photo-stories will be judged on the basis of the photo’s originality and the imaginative description of the theme of the picture taken. Photographs from smart phone devices are accepted.
From Wednesday 28th October to Monday 30th November we invite online submissions to the competition. The winner, runner-up and highly commended entries, in each category, will be announced at an Awards Ceremony at the Rothamsted Conference Centre on Sunday 6th December. All entrants, will be invited to attend this event, and are in with a chance of winning some great prizes sponsored by the Royal Society of Biology and Keyphoto.
