Happy Holidays!

July 20, 2016

Thank you to parents and carers for all the lovely cards and gifts you have brought in for our teaching staff and myself. We are very grateful for all your kind words and also for the support you have given to the school over the past year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our fantastic staff for their hard work and commitment over the past year.

Finally, I hope everyone has a very enjoyable summer holiday and that the sun carries on shining throughout! As we have two Inset days at the start of the autumn term, I look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday, 5th September.

The Big Friendly Read-Summer Reading Challenge 2016

July 20, 2016

This year, libraries across Hertfordshire are running their Summer Reading Challenge in celebration of 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl. It is open for all children from 4-11 years old and runs from 16th July to 10th September. All they have to do is sign up at the library and then read six books over the holiday and tell the librarians about them. It is not a competition – every child who takes part is taking on a personal challenge and there are merit awards for those who complete it.

The children have seen a presentation on this year’s event and have been given a leaflet today with the details of how to join in. We do hope that you will encourage your child to take part-it’s a fun way for him/her to keep up with reading whilst off school and return motivated and raring to go in the Autumn Term.

Key Stage 2 Rounders Tournament

July 20, 2016

Years 3, 4 and 6 took part in our KS2 rounders tournament yesterday on our school field. Well done to team Sapphire who were the overall winners.

Thank you to Miss Lincoln who organised the event and to our other KS2 teachers and teaching assistants who helped the event run smoothly and who ensured all the children were given much needed water and shade while they were not on the pitch!

At the beginning of term, Young Enterprise came to our school to spend a day with Year 5. Since then, the class have been setting up and developing their own businesses and yesterday they held a market in the school hall to sell their wares. All profits made are being donated to various charities chosen by each of the Year 5 business groups.

Year 6 Leavers Assembly

July 19, 2016

We held our leavers’ assembly today – an emotional and reflective time for our Year 6 pupils and their parents and carers. It was an opportunity to wish Year 6 the very best for the future as they move on to secondary school. We will miss you all.

Talent Show

July 18, 2016

We held our annual talent show today, which was enjoyed by the whole school. We saw an amazing range of talents from the children and staff! Well done to everyone who was involved.

Thank you to Mrs Cross for organising the talent show and to Mrs Marzola who also attended the auditions.
