This year, libraries across Hertfordshire are running their Summer Reading Challenge in celebration of 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl. It is open for all children from 4-11 years old and runs from 16th July to 10th September. All they have to do is sign up at the library and then read six books over the holiday and tell the librarians about them. It is not a competition – every child who takes part is taking on a personal challenge and there are merit awards for those who complete it.
The children have seen a presentation on this year’s event and have been given a leaflet today with the details of how to join in. We do hope that you will encourage your child to take part-it’s a fun way for him/her to keep up with reading whilst off school and return motivated and raring to go in the Autumn Term.
