Severe Weather and Winter Clothing

November 25, 2016

Now that the cold weather is upon us, please ensure your child comes to school with a warm coat, hat and gloves. The children do go outside at break and lunchtime even if it is cold as it is important they get fresh air and exercise during the school day. Please also ensure they have appropriate footwear and that all items are clearly labelled. Thank you.

We would also like to remind parents and carers that in the event of extreme bad weather, making it necessary to close the school, you will be informed via:

  • a text message (ensure we have your up to date details)
  • Announcements on BBC 3 Counties Radio 103.8 FM or Heart 96.6
  • Hertfordshire County Council Website (www.hertfordshire.gov.uk)
  • our school website (www.lea-pri.herts.sch.uk)

Year 5 Trip to Hitchin Museum

November 23, 2016

Year 5 visited the British Schools Museum in Hitchin today for a Victorian School experience as part of their new History topic. The children spent the day learning about life as a Victorian child, attending lessons which included finding out about the punishments pupils would have experienced (rather different to nowadays!). They also had the opportunity to look round the school master’s Victorian house.

The class were very engaged throughout the day and asked lots of questions. They were exceptionally well behaved,  prompting museum staff to comment on how proud we must be of them. Well done Year 5!

Thank you to Mrs Crowe and Mrs Stevens for coming along to help.
