Nursery and Reception held their learn and share morning with parents and carers today. The children shared what they have been learning in class, including work relating to their mini beasts topic, messy play and food to name but a few! It was wonderful to see so many parents coming in for what was a really fun and enjoyable morning for the children (and hopefully for the adults too!).
There was a great deal of excitement in Reception this morning when they were visited by 2 of our local neighbourhood policemen, PC Armstrong and PCSO Walton. The children were totally captivated as they learned all about the police uniform, including the body vest and the helmet (which was tried on by most of the class!). They were shown a baton, speed camera and handcuffs, and delighted in seeing these tried out on their teacher! They also talked to an officer at the local police station through the walkie talkie and listened to the very loud siren and flashing lights on the police car parked in the Reception playground.
What an amazing morning they had! Thank you to Mrs Parsell who organised the visit.
Nursery and Reception held their phonics workshop this morning. Unfortunately not as many parents and carers attended as we had hoped, possibly due to the timing of the workshop. Those who did come along told us that they had found it extremely informative and beneficial. Therefore, if there is enough demand for it, our Nursery and Reception teachers are kindly offering to hold another one in the very near future for those who were unable to attend, perhaps scheduled at a different time of day. Please let your child’s Nursery/Reception teacher know at drop off or pick up if you are interested.
Parents and carers of Nursery and Reception children came into school for a ‘Learn & Share’ morning in their child’s classroom this morning. The children enjoyed showing their parents/carers what they were learning in class and in return, parents/carers hopefully found it useful to find out more about the Early Years curriculum.
