Herts Advertiser School Awards – Winner!

June 25, 2015

The 2015 Herts Advertiser Schools Awards Ceremony took place on Wednesday evening at Oaklands College in St Albans.

We are very pleased to inform you that Jamie Clarke in Year 5 came first in the Sporting Achiever of the Year category!

Back in February of this year, Jamie raised a significant amount when he ‘Swam a Mile’ on the day of his 10th birthday. This was to contribute towards the costs of enabling his auntie Lucy to travel to Moscow for life changing stem cell treatment to cure her Multiple Scleroses, and to raise awareness of the treatment, which is only available privately, for similar sufferers.

Many congratulations to Jamie who was a well deserved winner.

Also, The Lea Primary School and Nursery was a finalist in the Innovation Project of the Year category for our library project earlier this year. Thank you to everyone who was involved in this project.

The Herts Advertiser held their 2014 School Awards at Oaklands College on Tuesday 24th June.

Over 180 guests came together to celebrate the achievements of staff and students at the schools and colleges across the district.  Shirley Hayman from The Parents’ Show, hosted the awards and interviewed each winner, giving an insight into their dedication, passions and determination.

Although we didn’t win the overall category, we are pleased to announce that our PTA Chair, Sue Stevens, was awarded a certificate for being a Finalist in the Unsung Hero category (the accolade that Vanessa Mason won last year!).
