Nursery Applications and Open Days

The admissions process for applications to Nursery for children born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013 began on Tuesday 9th February 2015. Parents/carers should complete the online County application at www.hertsdirect.org/nurseryadmissions

The deadline for applications is 18th March 2015.

The first of our Nursery Open mornings is on Tuesday 23rd February at 9.30am. If you know of anyone who may be interested in attending, please do let them know of the date.

School Uniform Ordering with Price and Buckland

Price & Buckland, our online school uniform suppliers, have launched a new web platform.  Although the link remains the same (www.pbparentsonline.co.uk/leaprimary), please be aware that parents will need to re-register in order to use the new site. Attached is an information sheet setting out further details.

Opening of New Secondary School Delayed

The opening of the new secondary school is likely to be delayed until September 2018 (current Year 4 intake).

Tag Rugby Tournament – 2ND

Some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in the annual local schools Tag Rugby Tournament this afternoon at Harpenden Rugby Club. The pupils who attended were Joseph, Malcolm, Riley, James and Theo from Year 5, and Andrene, Tasmin, Daniella, Jessica T, Sam, Liam, Kumail and Tyrese from Year 6.

In the initial group stage, The Lea won 4 out of 5 of their matches (only losing the one match by the smallest of margins at 5-4). Because they won their group, this meant that they qualified for the final!

They were up against Crabtree Juniors in the final, which was a nail biting match to watch. Our team played fantastically well, with huge determination. Unfortunately, the final score didn’t go their way, losing 7-5 to Crabtree.

Huge congratulations to our team, we couldn’t be more proud of you! Lastly, a big thank you to Mr Martin who helped coach the team in preparation for the tournament.

Nursery Open Mornings

For anyone looking for a school Nursery place from September (children born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013) The Lea Primary School & Nursery is holding Open Mornings on Tuesday, 23rd February and Wednesday, 16th March from 9.30-10.30am.

Road Monster Assembly

This morning the children were visited by Val Male from the Safe and Sustainable Journeys in School team at Herts County Council. She introduced the ‘Don’t be a Road Monster’ campaign to the children.

You will have seen the letter and flyer that was sent home with the children this week. I hope that you have taken the time to read this. If you would like to sign up to the campaign, please complete and return the tear off slip at the bottom of the letter. In return we will give you a ‘Don’t be a Road Monster’ sticker to put in your car.

Year 3 Trip to the Natural History Museum

Year 3 visited the Natural History Museum today as part of their geography curriculum work on earthquakes and volcanoes. They spent their time finding out lots of interesting facts to complete their worksheet by looking round the earthquake and volcano zone.

New Harpenden Secondary School Meeting

We have been asked to let you know that Harpenden Parents Group have organised an information and Q&A evening for parents regarding the new Secondary School. This meeting will enable parents to find out the next steps towards a new secondary school. This is an opportunity for you to find out about the vision for the new school, the planning process and how parents can get involved.

It will be held on Monday 22nd February at 7.30pm at Roundwood Park School. They have speakers from the Harpenden Secondary Education Trust, Herts County Council Officers and Herts County Councillors.
