26 September 2015
Thank you for supporting our 3rd and final Lego Exhibition. What a fantastic day! It was a truly spectacular event and the models on display were incredible.
Thank you also to everyone who has assisted in any way with this event. It would not be possible without everyone’s help, hard work and generous sponsorship. And finally a huge thank you to Russell Chapman for sharing his private collection of Lego with us. This was the third time we have run the event and Russell truly outdid himself with this year’s display, using over a quarter of a million carefully constructed bricks!
There were loads of Lego activities for kids of all ages:
* Enormous range of Lego models on display
* Voting for your favourite Lego competition entry
* Duplo play area for under 3’s
* Lego building mats / play tables
* Mini Figure hunt
* Play Lego PlayStation
* Cinema room
* Photo opportunities – kindly provided by John Lewis
* Colouring in / craft section
* Face painting
* Refreshments
* and much, much more…!

The ‘Build Your Own’ Competition
Thank you to The Bangkok Lounge Thai Restaurant, Harpenden for sponsoring the ‘Build Your Own’ competition.
The standard was very high this year and we had over 15 schools take part – including Aldwickbury, High Beeches, Manland, Roundwood, SS Alban, St Helen’s, The Grove, The Lea, Woodend, SJL, Roundwood Park and St Albans Girls. We had some incredibly creative models and we are pleased that all our visitors were the judges as we would have found it a very difficult task!

A Special Thank You
Our 3 Lego Exhibitions would not have happened were it not for Russell Champan. Russell is a dedicated AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego) and he selflessly volunteered to share his Lego with us.
The entire hall was filled with Russell’s private collection of Lego. The exhibition did not just contain box set models, but also Russell’s own bespoke creations. He used over a quarter of a million bricks in this last exhibition alone! For the entire year before each event he was planning what to build, how to lay out the exhibition and physically building the models. His family lived with Lego models on every available surface in their home – FOR THREE YEARS!!
Russell works full time and has 3 sons at The Lea Primary. It must have taken every minute of his free time – WE THANK YOU!!
